Rain or shine, a nurse's job is never done. But even on a wet, yucky day, lives need to be saved, and why not looking good while taking care of that...?!
The charming stethoscope charm chain listed here is made out of dark blue mother-of-pearl discs, large beveled rondell crystals in a smoky blue, white glass pearl beads and AB rainbow-hued dark blue Swarovsky crystals. Beads are accentuated with silver-tone metal spacers and beadcaps. Other titles are available in letter beads. Please specify...
The chain is easily attached to your stethoscope by removing the scope's rubber ear pieces, and sliding the black silicon rings of the charm:
A) down the metal arms of the scope to a desired height (if your scope comes with the small O-rings due to a long name / title personalization, or
B) all the way down onto its rubber part (if equipped with larger O- Rings for a shorter personalization).
Your Stethoscope charm will ship out within a day or two, and arrive packaged carefully in a pink mailer, holding your purchase wrapped in tissue paper and enclosed in a pretty organza bag, with an inspiring message tag attached to it. No price information will ever be included, so it's always ready to be gifted to others or self, fresh out of the bag! 😜
You can also ask for a custom order if you don't see a design you like; the name change comes with the territory, so you don't need to request a custom order for that: just specify the desired name in the note field upon check-out.
For more designs, browse through the "Stethoscope Section" of my shop to find many, many other creations in a broad range of colors...
The story behind the product:
While I can't claim I invented it, I / we have been around nurses (by now probably a good 300) and doctors (dozens and dozens) long enough to know that they would be delighted by this ingenius little accessory.
Our youngest daughter Faith was born October 1, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston with a 10 -20% chance of surviving birth. She had hydrops, a condition where fluid accumulates in 3 or more areas of the body. In her case it effected her lungs, the area around her heart, her skin, as well as her scalp. In a very complicated procedure (Thorosynthesis), the fluid present in her lungs, was suctioned out with long "tube needles" during the C-Section delivery, allowing her lungs to be inflated artificially. In addition, she was born with congenital heart disease and a thrombosed liver.
We owe her survival at birth to the supreme skill and expertise of healthcare professionals at Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) in Houston, where she remained 7 weeks after birth, her surviving the first critical week after birth (another 80-90% mortality rate), and thereafter.
Every day for those 7 weeks, either her dad or I, drove the hour to TCH's NICU to pray over her, sing to her, or just hold her hands, watching her making progress, regressing again, but eventually coming off oxygen and other life-supporting tubes. We met some incredibly dedicated nurses and doctors that way, some of which we are still in touch with. That helped us tremendously dealing with all the challenges that God put in our path, such as our little Faith failing to thrive once back home, as was discovered at that point, a result of malrotated intestines. Back to TCH she went for, as it turned out, 2 surgeries and 9 seemingly endless weeks at the hospital due to a very tough recovery.
Again, we were blessed with a wonderful doctor and nursing staff, to which in no little measure we attribute Faith's healing and her ultimately coming back home again.
Life hasn't been easy since, as Faith was also diagnosed with moderate to severe hearing loss as well as Noonan's Syndrom (NS), and is still being primarily fed through a stomach tube. Many more hospitalizations (days and weeks at a time) have followed since. However, we consider ourselves blessed to have tremendous support through various therapists, numerous specialists that Faith keeps seeing, and last but not least that of family members and friends.
Faith has grown into a happy, smart and humorous big-little first grader. She wears hearing aids and glasses, still takes heart meds several times daily and receives most of her feeds through her Mic-Key. However, after years of feeding therapy, she's now to the point that she can drink 90cc of special chocolate milk at school (still requiring a lot of coaxing / encouragement).
Beading has become a much welcome creative outlet for me, and I draw a lot of positive energy from it and communicating with my customers. Thank you for your support - I appreciate your business, and wish you a happy, healthy and blessed 2017!
