eight vintage quilt squares table runner baby quilt blanket sewing supplies 1930's calico patterns American textiles art faric
Here is a lot of eight charming vintage quilt squares. Each square is approximately 10 inches square. They are all Simple Eight Pointed stars made of triangles with the center square set at a diagonal to the finished square shape. These were probably made during the depression, They seem like 1930's calico patterns to me.
There are no stains. (some of the photos make it sen like there are dark yellow areas, but it is just the lighting). This is a great piece for pillows, a table runner or wall hanging. Beautiful calico fabrics, plaids, polka dots, floral and checkers - all cotton fabrics.
Through the years, quilts have become documents of history. They are the products of society, influenced by culture, and the environment of the people who made them. The history of America can be seen in the history of quilts. Stitched into these quilts is the rich heritage of thrifty self-sufficient women who helped homestead the land, the history of families sewn into quilts one patch or one stitch at a time, and the legacy of the art of quilting, passed on from generation to generation.
