Item details

This Mini Horns of My Dilemma carved bone crescent pendant bead is a 20mm version of one of my most popular bead designs.

While I chose the name for the listing here, double horns or crescent moon are names also used to describe this potent carving.

Like the bigger 30mm bead shown in my second photo for comparison purposes, this piece is carved both sides with a smooth curved surface, and is not drilled.

Please note that this listing is for one piece only. I have more stock of these on the way. Please convo me for an update if you need more than the quantity shown here.

This bead is also available in miniature in black horn and in mother of pearl shell. The bigger version comes undrilled, or with a hole drilled either through the middle or to one side, and is also in black or brown horn, and in sustainable sawo wood. You'll find the other listings here -

PayPal is my preferred method of payment.

Size: Approx 20mm (L) x 20mm (W) - about 0.78in (L) x 0.78 in (W)

Pieces per pack: 1

Shipping: This item will ship from Bali via Pos Indonesia registered mail with tracking, and you'll almost certainly have to sign on delivery. It will be sent in a padded post pack to protect it, and the cost of the pack is included in the shipping fee. I generally ship more quickly than the 3-5 days listed in my shipping profile.

Mekepung or bull races are held in the west Bali regency of Jembrana from July to October each year.

Madurese migrants introduced the sport to celebrate the end of the rice harvest, and it has become a tourist attraction for one of the least visited regencies on the Island of the Gods.

While I'm not a fan of the use of animals for this type of sport and have never actually seen one of these events, the races are said to be thrilling contests between teams of two young water buffalo harnessed to a chariot.

The chariot is ridden by a jockey who holds onto the bulls' tails as they career down a 2km race course, kicking up dust and sweat.

The water buffalo used in these races are said to be treated with great care, and are fed elaborate diets containing "all sorts of wonderful potions and secret ingredients".

Most of the races happen outside the regency capital of Negara, next to a river estuary in the location of Parancak.

“Don't take the bull by the horns, take him by the tail; then you can let go when you want to.” ~ American humorist Josh Billings.

Average review
A little smaller than anticipated, but totally worth it. This works wonderfully with my casting set. The spares are very much appreciated in case it breaks in casting. But the tips have worn down a tiny bit with no hint of breakage. Thank you so much for these pieces!
