This 8 x 10 photo frame is crafted from tin with hand punched designs. The back includes my signature. Frames can easel or wall hang in landscape or portrait. If you're interested in a deluxe mirror with additional tin details, please specify portrait or landscape. Each frame is individual, the photo represents a general style for the punched work.
I am a fifth generation tinsmith and juried member of the Spanish Colonial Art Society. I teach classes and carry supplies for tinsmiths. I use traditional techniques and tools handed down through the generations of my family.
Early Spanish Colonial settlers in the New Mexico territory recycled many things to sustain themselves in the harsh desert landscape. The silversmith's were unable to find enough silver to create artwork, so they turned to recycling tin. The tin was brought to New Mexico primarily by the U.S. Army garrison across the Santa Fe Trail. It was bright, shiny food grade tin that had the look of silver.
All good. As expected. Had ordered a few frames before. Received quickly.
