Why buy "recycled" yarn?

These are yarns that I have reclaimed from garments purchased at my local thrift store. Buying one of these yarns helps to support a charity whose mission is "education, training, and career services for people with disadvantages...as well as those with physical, mental and emotional disabilities." Buying reclaimed yarn has the added benefit of helping to reduce the burden on our landfills.

The items I purchase are of the highest quality (both in terms of fiber content and with respect to the manufacturer - the "brand name") and have been worn very little, if ever (many still have the store tags attached). I avoid any garment that shows signs of wear (pilling, felting, stains, etc...). I carefully unravel the yarn, wash it in hot water with an organic lavender scented soap, rinse it and let it air dry before winding it into a skein and counting the yardage.

The yarn is clean and fresh and ready for your crafting pleasure!

My shipping fee is the postage plus a small amount to cover packing materials and my time to package the item and get it to the post office. Due to the nature of what I ship both the materials and the time required are usually minimal so what I charge for it is minimal. I strive to make sure that your purchase arrives in good condition but to keep costs down I will re-use boxes, etc... when appropriate. If what I have charged you for shipping is significantly over the actual postage plus the small packaging fee I will refund the difference to you.

Domestic customers: It has been my experience that for packages weighing 16 ounces or less First Class shipping is almost always as fast as Priority Mail and is cheaper so I prefer to ship First Class whenever possible. I will package and ship your purchases in the most cost effective way I can, occasionally this will be Priority Mail.

International Customers: Please contact me for a shipping quote before placing your order so both of us can have an accurate idea of what the shipping costs will be. If after getting the shipping quote you decide to place an order please provide your full name and an English language translation of your shipping address where applicable. The customer is responsible for all duties, fees, taxes, and tariffs required by the location to which the purchase is shipped.

All customers: To insure fast shipping please provide me with an accurate address. I am not responsible for any shipping problems caused by customs, weather/natural disasters, wars, "acts of God", etc...
