B32 RARE Vogue Paris Original Model 1128 by Paquin - Belt and skirt button detail
Once upon a time many decades ago, there was a world of couture that millions of women across the globe could only dream of. Heim, Patou, Fath, Balmain, Schiaparelli, Piguet among others... they were titans of the fashion world and their designs determined what women, across the world, would want to wear.
Vogue Paris Original Models was a series that began in 1949 allowing home sewers access to couture otherwise only familiar to them in french magazines such as L'Officiel. At a time when $5000 might be an annual household income, these patterns were sold at the princely sum of $2.50. The Vogue Pattern service would reconstruct a toile sent from Parisian catwalks within a week of their showing, upon agreement with a number of these fabulous couture houses.. it would be converted into a Vogue paris Original model and offered to a public hungry for Parisian fashions. The fashion house of Jacques Heim was one of them.
This listing is for Vogue pattern 1128, a peg top dress which was available in 1950. (See line drawing)

Today this pattern represents not only a fabulous piece of fashion history that might otherwise be lost- it is a treasure full of the secrets of the couturiers... the instructions in these patterns are invaluable and are suitable for seamstresses with a healthy sewing knowledge. If you enjoy the work of Claire Scheffer (for example), aspire to fine sewing and love vintage fashion, this beautiful pattern is for you.
The envelope is in good condition. The instructions are in reasonable condition but are becoming frail and need to be handled with care. The pattern pieces are all there without significant tearing or damage.
