Item details

Two counted cross stitch patterns inspired by the designs on the back of a bronze mirror found at Trelan Bahow, Cornwall. The mirror dates back to the 1st century BCE and is now housed in the British Museum. The fascinating arrangement of circles is perfect for representing the sun.

The sun's yearly cycle is an integral part of the calendar and my two Solstice cross stitch patterns celebrate two of the main turning points. The Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year and when the sun is at its weakest. This is reflected in the icy blue shades in the threads, to remind you of frost-covered December mornings. The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year and the sun is at the height of its powers. This is reflected in the hot, fiery shades in the threads, to remind you of glorious summer afternoons.

See the links below to but each pattern separately.

FAQs

I do not currently accept custom orders but I am happy to accept suggestions for patterns, especially birds. Please get in touch if you have a favourite bird you'd like me to design.

Cross stitch is a very time-consuming form of embroidery and unfortunately this means that making larger cross stitched items to sell is not practical; they would simply be too expensive. However, I do make small cross stitched items such as ornaments and greeting cards. See my shop sections for details.

All patterns are currently only designed for hand embroidery and are only available in PDF format.

Yes! Birds are one of my favourite subjects and I'll definitely be adding more over time. If you favourite my shop you will receive updates every time I add something new. Do you have a favourite bird you'd like me to design? Send me a convo and I'll do my best to make it happen!

This page in the Etsy help section has solutions to common problems with digital downloads. https://www.etsy.com/uk/help/article/3949 If you are still experiencing problems, get in touch with me and I'll see if I can help. I also recommend you contact Etsy as they may be in a better position to solve the problem.
