Wall Hanging Finished Size: 52 cm x 85 cm This is a pattern only. This is not available as PDF, this is a printed paper pattern.
This Horses quilted wall hanging pattern is stitched by machine, or hand using blanket stitch.
Horses is a full size applique pattern including full instructions for the applique using fusible web technique with blanket stitch directions, and with optional embroidery embellishments to finish your quilted applique wall hanging. The Horses in this applique are made up of several shades ofeither black, brown, dunn etc. what colour do you like your horses? The background of green grass, and a strip of blue sky is a good back drop for some fluffy white clouds. You also need to add some distant hills, and closer rocks. You may like to add some simple stitchery on the hills to suggest trees, and closer around the rocks to suggest grasses. To do this you could use a simple fly-stitch and french knots, or long stitches and beads. The addition of an embroidered small fleck of white in the eyes of the horses also adds life and sparkle to the eyes. Also the background was stippled, in a random quilting, which helps to flatten the background, and bring the horses forward in the picture.
These colourful original designs, are fun to do. This applique pattern uses fusible webbing sometimes called Vliesofix, or bonding web to fuse the separate pieces of fabric to the background. It is then machine appliqued or sewn by hand using embroidery stitches like blanket stitch or button hole stitch. Using basic patchwork for the background and borders, the wall hanging is then appliqued and quilted. I like to add optional embroidery and bead embellishments on our quilt patterns to add an extra creative touch. Ideal for textile art backgrounds, as the optional embroidery, can be as much or as little as you like. Finally the finished wall hanging is quilted, often using a random stippled quilting.
