This shawlette/scarf can be worked with a regular 5.00mm (US H8) crochet hook as there are not many stitches on the hook at one time. Although, you may find the edging easier to work with a Tunisian hook.
Measurements – Approximately 58” x 8 ½“ (148cm x 20cm), the scarf can easily be made longer if desired.
The main part is worked by beginning with one corner square and a side triangle, then working diagonal rows of squares (and triangles at the ends), entrelac style without breaking the yarn at all, picking up stitches from previously worked squares and triangles.
The edge is worked in short rows of Tunisian crochet, linking the end stitches to main part.
It is easily possible to make the shawlette/scarf longer if desired, by adding extra rows of squares on the main part and then extra rows for the edging.
The pattern is written using a 4 ply sock yarn, but it can be made using any weight yarn and appropriate hook size, bearing in mind the finished measurements will be different.
