Item details

This is an E-book with instructions on how to sew two different styles of 1920's kimono style robes WITHOUT USING A PAPER PATTERN! The instructions are quite simple and will make sense to an intermediate or above sewing enthusiast. Instructions include how to make the designs to your exact measurements.

Year: 1927.
In the original source material, this pattern was referred to as a "Coolie Coat" and included suggestions as to how to make the pattern up as a beach cover up, or as a kimono robe for the boudoir.

SIZING: This pattern booklet includes instructions on how to make this pattern for your own measurements - so it can be made in any size!

Difficulty level: Intermediate.

You will be able to sew a complete robe or coat using this E-booklet, no printing required!

A paper version of this pattern is also available here:

Fabric requirements:
Please see 3rd photo.

Pattern type - Patternless cutting: The Patternless-Cutting type of pattern is typically seen in our 1920’s sewing patterns.
This type of pattern is not the sort that you lay out on fabric and cut out. These patterns are a set of very detailed instructions, diagrams, and illustrations that show you how to mark out your “pattern” on a piece of fabric laid out on your table. You use your own measurements to get an exact fit, and there is no printing, drafting, or taping involved.

If you prefer a "traditional" pattern that is ready to cut and sew, you might wish to purchase this pattern instead:

You can read more about this type of sewing pattern on our 1920’s Dress Patterns FAQ Page:

INSTANT DOWNLOAD: Your purchase will be available for download the second your payment clears through Etsy. Simply follow the email sent to you, or click on <Your Account>, then <Purchases> and under your receipt, <Files Ready to Download>.

Printing a PDF is easy. Just open, hit print, and make sure that your printer scale is set to 100% (this should be the default setting in most cases).

Easy to understand instructions. I just downloaded it so I haven't made it yet but I just read through it and it shouldn't be difficult at all.

Pattern was a little tricky to understand, but once I did, it went smoothly. Easy to make some small adjustments that I needed. I would recommend it to experienced seamsters.

File delivery
Your files will be available to download once payment is confirmed. Here's how.

We accept most forms of online payment including credit card, gift card and Paypal. If you wish to pay another way, please feel free to ask us for help. We no longer accept payment through money order or check.

Returns & exchanges

There are no returns on digital or paper patterns so please read the item description carefully before purchase.
We do not offer refunds for the following reasons:
If a customer didn't read the item description and wasn't sure what type of pattern was purchased. Customers are responsible for reading and making sure they understand the item being sold before purchase.
We do not offer refunds because a pattern is beyond a customer's skill level. If you're not sure how hard a pattern is, please feel free to ask us - we're happy to advise.

Exceptions: You are of course entitled to a full refund if you have purchased a duplicate pattern, or in the case of buying the wrong size, exchanges are always just fine.

Additional policies

If you have any questions about printing:
Please feel free to email us, we'd be happy to help. (
We get about 100 emails a day so please don't be upset if we can't get to your questions right away. We try to answer all downloading and printing questions right away.

Please note that the purchase of a sewing pattern from Mrs. Depew Vintage entitles you to the following:
- a great sewing pattern that may not be available anywhere else.
- a prompt reply if you have trouble downloading or printing your pattern (digital orders).

Sadly, this does not include a sewing questions help line. If it did, we would have to hire an extra employee and an intern or two. These things would cost quite a bit of money and the cost of patterns would go up, and that would make everyone very sad. If you have a sewing question, there's a chance that we won't be able to get to it. As much as we would like to help every customer with their sewing questions, there just aren't enough hours in the day. That said, you're still very welcome to write in with your sewing questions. We don't mind and when we have a free moment, we try to help if we can. But if you don't get a timely response, please don't take it personally, there just aren't enough hours in the day and Mrs. Depew will crash and burn if she skips any more meals to try answer just one more email...
