I found this terrific old speed wrench in a heap of junk in an old barn that is falling down. The barn is pre-civil war in the heart of Rockingham County, New Hampshire. This old speed wrench was rescued from the workshop area, which has had the second floor fall down into it. It is in reasonably good condition considering where it has been for the last 30 to 40 years. The farmer who owned the barn, now deceased, was an amateur woodworker from the mid 1950's to the early 1980's. This wrench does seem to work, though the chuck is stiff. It has loosened up just from me opening in closing it a few times. Though it still needs more attention and maybe some lube too, but I believe it will operate smoothly with a little TLC. This is being offered as is as found, I have wiped off the barn dust but it will need a more detailed cleaning. There is some surface rust and grime and both the top wood handle and the middle wooden handle have a great aged patina. It is 15 1/2" long and the U is about 4 1/2" deep. It is a great old hand tool which will make a great gift for your favorite wood worker,a wonderful addition to any collection. Thanks for looking.
