This is 100% suri yarn from my herd, commercially spun by New Era Fiber of Tennessee, an excellent mill. Spun from grade 2 fiber (also called baby alpaca; roughly 20-23 microns), this is next to the skin soft, shiny and super dense. Each skein is 200 yards and weighs approximately three ounces.
Suri alpaca is like silk in terms of its textile properties - very heavy, drapey and super lustrous. It is excellent for weaving or creating lacy scarves or shawls where shine and drape are desirable. This yarn is available in a natural white (perfect for dyeing!) or a heathered fawn.
