Primitive Wool comb - Hetchel Carding tool - Vintage tool - The Manderscheid Co. - "Modern Rake Holder"
This is a 15" carding tool for wool (we think). These were used in Amish (and other) communities in the 1800's in the process of creating woven fabric. There are still bits of wool on the combs. Wouldn't it be nice to know who used this tool and what the finished product was like? I guess we'll never know. This particular model is from the Mandersheid Co.and is from the 1940s.
It's a wonderful piece to hang up with other antique tools. Or maybe it's still useful to card wool. Such an interesting tool.
