hand dyed suri alpaca in a beautiful dusky blue, 10 inches in length, one ounce. This is a soft fiber suitable for use as fantasy doll hair and felting applications. White suri alpaca was washed and then dyed, and the fiber has been aligned but is not combed. This specific fiber is extremely fine and soft with some wave in it. I have not combed it, because getting rid of the little bits of tangles will best be done handling small amounts at a time and gently pulling apart to minimize waste with combing. The dye was applied in a somewhat uneven manner to produce highlights and depths that occur naturally in most hair colors.
I am constantly amazed at what fiber artists do, and just when you think you have seen it all, someone dreams up a totally fabulous way to use fiber that knocks you off your feet. I grew up thinking of senior women as "Blue haired ladies" because of the rinses used at beauty parlors. Now that I am approaching that age, alternate hair colors are a pretty young and edgy thing, so a blue haired doll with this color could be just the thing. And, BTW, we do custom dyeing on a regular basis, so if you think of a color you would prefer, let me know.
care instructions: hand wash cool water no agitation, blot, lay flat to dry.
Just to put a bug in someone's ear, personally I would use this as the base fiber and throw in a few locks of the gray/silver suri you see in a separate listing, kind of a skunk streak. I could be convinced to tuck a sample in or perhaps on this one pure white or a bit of pink!
