This frame is constructed of poplar and stained with india ink. This process allows the grain of the wood to faintly show through unlike a painted frame. The corners are reinforced with splines to add strength, but are barely visible through the ink. The backing material is 1/4" MDF held on by turnbuttons, allowing for the backing to be removed and replaced with just a #1 Phillips screwdriver. The frame is finished with four coats of shellac, sanded to a satin sheen.
Hanging slots are cut into the back of the frame for either portrait or landscape orientation. Single pane glass 3/32" thick is included.
I have listed and priced standard sizes, but I can make any size of frame needed up to a maximum of 30”x36”. For sizes larger than 16"x20" I use plexiglass instead of glass to prevent breakage during shipping. The most common standard sizes are: 5”x7” 8”x10” 8.5”x11” 11”x14” 16”x20” 24”x36”
All dimensions are of the glass/backing/item to be framed--- not the outside dimension of the frame. The outside measurements are 2" greater in each dimension. E.g.: the outside dimensions of an 8"x10" frame are 10"x12".
Please contact me for custom sizes. Custom sizes will priced the same as the next larger standard size.
Cost of shipping is included in the listing price. (Contiguous U.S. only)
