This rug hooking kit is drawn on cotton monks cloth. It comes with all the wools cut in one quarter inch strips necessary to complete the kit, the pattern, rug binding, a color key, and easy to follow instructions I can't tell you how many people have taught themselves traditional rug hooking (not latch hook) using these kits. The pattern measures 10 X 15 inches and would make a great wall hanging, table centerpiece, or pillow top. Lots of people hang these hand hooked mats from old cupboards or make chair pads out of them.
The sheep is hooked with oatmeal heather and over dyed charcoal and the star with my own dyed mustard. The background is hooked with a mix of primitive dark plaids, navy, eggplant, etc. For a finishing touch and a pop of color I added a row of red around the edge of the piece.
The only other items you will need to start this kit are a hoop and a hook. I sell the hooks for 12.25 but you can choose to add one to your kit at checkout for the reduced price of just $9.00. While there are many rug hooking frames available I started out with a simple quilting hoop and purchased a rug hooking frame after I decided this was a hobby I was going to stick with.
If you have any questions please email me and thanks for your interest in my work. If you would like to see this technique demonstrated just google Primitive Rug Hooking. There are several videos on u tube.
