This is wonderful tool for children to create a World Map easily. With markers or coloring pencils trace over the continents. Cut out the hemispheres, glue them on a blue background and voila - a World Map!
Direct Aims: 1. To experience a form of cartography. 2. To become more familiar with the map details. 3. To make comparisons.
Indirect Aims: 1. To develop fine motor control and coordination. 2. To develop order and concentration. 3. To prepare for later cartography, such as punching-out (Froebel-pinning) the map.
Our children love this work. We have three sets in the classroom!
Included: detailed lesson plan with variation and extension ideas; laminated eastern and western hemispheres, corresponding in size to the Montessori World Puzzle Map; two each tracing and blue construction paper for one map; poster board circle for tracing hemisphere circles. (Note: for shipping purposes this circle is not cut out; please do so before use!)
