This pattern shows you how to knit a pair of adorable little legwarmers with a soft and fuzzy acrylic yarn. The stretchy, ribbed design allows each legwarmer to fit a baby 0-12 months from the knee to the ankle (and will stretch to fit over chubby thighs). They will also fit a toddler (12-24 months or even older) a little lower on the legs, as shown in the photos. The best part about this yarn: It's machine washable!
These make a great baby shower gift — not only are legwarmers cozy and cute, they're practical! They protect baby's knees and, unlike pants, don't have to come off during diaper changes.
The pattern comes as a PDF file, which should become available to download as soon as your payment clears.
This is not the actual knit item! If you are looking for a finished pair of legwarmers, contact me for a custom order.
Difficulty: Advanced beginner. You do need to know how to knit and purl and sew a basic seam. More advanced knitters can use DPNs or a magic loop for a seamless legwarmer.
Cost: You will need one skein of fuzzy acrylic yarn, which retails for about $5 or less. (I recently learned that the yarn I was using has been discontinued! But there are a lot of similar yarns out there). This is also a great project to do with yarn leftovers, as you don't need the entire skein, and you could always use multiple colors for a stripe pattern.
