I wanted to create a design which would allow me to use up some of the 3 ply yarn I had in my stash, I've made plenty of projects in aran and DK but nothing was really grabbing me for such a delicate yarn. I had been trying out a few edging techniques, when I came up with the idea of repeating the tube edge into a ripple effect, I felt this was the perfect way to create something lovely and warm to wear from something so light weight. The resulting cowl is wonderfully soft and cosy and the ripple texture is very pleasing. It's an easy knit, and as it's so simple can be easily adapted to other sizes.
Cowls are the perfect cold weather accessory, they fit neatly with any jacket and coat, without all the bulkiness and untidiness of a scarf.
The first time I made this cowl I used 1 skein of hand-spun alpaca yarn but any 3 ply yarn would work well.
Recommended materials: 1 skein 3 ply yarn, 4mm circular needles.
