A beautiful, rare gem for the serious dressmaker or collector in an incredibly hard-to-find vintage size for this pattern service, from this period.
Fath was a titan in the world of 1950s couture, celebrated and patronized by the wealthy and the famous. Browse through the pages of L’Officiel from the 50s and it will be apparent that this suit and cape pattern was consistent with some of Fath’s most coveted and popular designs during the period. Chic, sophisticated and polished… perhaps a project for your most treasured Linton tweed?
Produced 1956-1957 this gorgeous design by one of the period’s most prominent couturiers can be made up to beautiful effect in tweed, lightweight woolen, wool crepe or flannel to name a few of the pattern suggestions. The suit has epaulet sleeves that would be stunning in shantung or taffeta.
CONDITION NOTES: Excellent, gently used condition, minimal envelope wear with a neat tear near the envelope lip. Stored in a plastic sleeve, will be mailed to buyer in a plastic sleeve. ****IMPORTANT: This is an enormous pattern and was originally 30 pieces. The pattern is missing three pieces- two lining pieces required to make the cape and the upper collar piece of the suit which is ONLY needed if the collar is to be made in fur. The upper and under collar pieces if you are making the suit in regular fabric are there (the suit therefore is complete in regular fabric). An experienced seamstress comfortable with making her own linings should be able to make the entire outfit.
Since it has been in my collection the a working copy of the pattern was made from the original prior to use to preserve the original. It has been neatly refolded. Condition is therefore described as “gently used” (and well cared for). Please refer to photos as part of the item description. Size: 18 Bust 38
