Note from seller

Due to serious medical issues in my immediate family I am having to close the shop for an indefinite amount of time. If you have already placed an order for a hook be assured I will get it out to you as soon as I possibly can. My intent is to re-open as soon as I can, but that remains to be seen. For all of my customers and friends who have helped make this shop a success, I thank you sincerely. God Bless you all. Chris

Item details

This is a hand turned/carved ergonomic crochet hook made out of laminated hardwoods. This hook is size "J", but it can be made in any size from G - K, Just ask.

I plane a series of different woods down so each peace is a uniform thickness (although the thickness from individual peace to peace will vary). I then cut blanks out of the laminated wood on an angle and use those on the lathe to turn the hook.

If you elect to order one, the hook you will receive will be very similar to the one shown (as much as is possible) and the throat will be whatever size you specify ( size G to K). However the pattern of the wood (the sequence in which it falls along the hook) will likely be different then the one shown. This is because I laminate several hardwood together at a time and although the woods within that ;laminate are constant, the blank could be cut from anywhere within the laminated wood resulting in a different pattern. I will send you a picture of the completed hook before I ship and if you don't like it I will either refund your money or make you another one...once. If you do not like the second one I will be happy to refund your money. This hook can be made from a size G to a size K.

This hook, while it may not be conventional looking, is designed to reduce fatigue of the wrist and hand, especially for people who have arthritis or Carple - Tunnel issues. The throat and tip are hand carved so it may not be exactly symmetrical, but that has no effect on it's performance. Hook is sanded to a mirror finish and finished with wax. No Hook makes it to this store until my wife test it for comfort, usability and performance...she has 42 years of knitting/crocheting experience.

This hook will may take up to two weeks to complete after I receive your request. Once done I will send you photos....if you don't like it, you don't have to buy it!

Shipping is free to the lower 48 states only.

The Hooks in this store are handmade and finished and are indeed, a Hooker's Delight!!

Additional policies

If you see a hook in a wood species that you like, but don't see the size you want, let me know and I will make it in the size you want if the properties of the wood allow that. By that I mean that different woods have different limitations. Generally the smaller the size, the harder and denser grain the wood needs to have (as long as it retains some elasticity). Larger sizes lend thenselves to softer more pliable woods. Shoot me an email with your request and I'll let you know if I can handle it.
