In the North Country, it is pretty cold in the spring when we are all outside ready for summer. My morning tennis group has played when it is in the low 40's and often needed to wear headbands. This pattern was written for a sock weight yarn, so it is light, but gives warmth and protects the ears from the cold wind. I designed it to be fairly wide to cover more area. It is great to throw in the tennis bag for a match or the backpack for hiking the peaks.
This pattern is written for fingering weight yarn and #2's. It has a slip-stitch which is cabled, creating an interesting "V" effect. You can easily adapt the pattern for heavier yarn by reducing the number of stitches, as long as they are divisible by six.
