This is a 24 page tutorial on how to make the papier maché/paper clay that I use to make most of my masks.
I call this a paper clay because it has a great texture/consistency that is very clay-like. It can be rolled out like a pizza dough and used inside a mold (this is how I use it) or on a base of for example clay, styrofoam or chicken wire.
(If you want to make a mold, I recommend Jemonite or a similar "acrylic polymer liquid"/"polymer-modified plaster" for the best result, as this is what I use myself.)
The texture of the dried paper clay will not be super smooth, as seen in the photos, which is positive in my opinion since it shows off the organic and handmade nature of the material.
This tutorial includes detailed instructions and photographs to make it as easy as possible for you to make this yourself, in your own home.
The tutorial features the main paper clay recipe, plus an extra small recipe with an alternative way to make paper clay.
Also includes instructions on how to treat the paper clay after it is dried and a page of extra tips and tricks on how to further experiment with the paper clay, plus a page of troubleshooting questions, as well as a quick guide page that you can print out.
Does _not_ include instructions about sculpting or moldmaking.
The tutorial includes measurements in deciliters, 250ml cups and both 15ml and 20ml tablespoons.
When you have purchased this tutorial and you still have any questions about making paper clay you are welcome to e-mail or message me for advice.
