I made a prototype in my Woodworking Shop for Suzi last year when she was taking Watercolor Classes at the Academy Museum in Easton, Md. Her classmates encouraged me to make more because the design allows a painter to keep two or more paintings moving forward at a time.
The hardboard panel is trimmed in solid Maple for durability, and the corner blocks are Paudauk, an exotic African Hardwood, to give it pizzazz, The corner blocks hold the panel 1/2" away from the horizontal surface you are working on, and the handle makes it easy to flip over and work on the other side while work you have completed is drying.
If you are a Plein Air Painter and working against the clock in competition, this board will be an asset.
I have stock in two (2) sizes at the moment, 24" X 15", and 24" X 18". The boards are 1" thick but weigh less than 2 lbs complete. And don't hesitate to ask me to make yours in the dimension that best suites your art.
This is amazingly cool! As soon as it arrived I taped a 10x14 on both sides. I just finished my second layer of watercolor on both. It is incredibly functional and is also beautiful. I placed a double post hook on the wall to hang it on by the handle. I am so pleased I found this art board. I'll use it for years to come. A true treasure, thanks Rose
