I found many spiny brown seeds while hiking in Roswell Georgia, and discovered that when sanded and burnished they become hard and dense and take a dark purplish, almost black color. I made these beads a while ago, but only recently was able to identify the plant they came from.
Red Devil Claw, or Proboscidea parviflora, is a plant native to The American Southwest. Its claw-like seed pods make it a good "hitchhiker" plant, attaching itself to people and animals which then disperse the seeds elsewhere.
Nature makes seeds of many sizes. These beads range in diameter from 4 to 6mm, so if you have a preference of size please specify in the order comments.
Each listing is 5 beads. If you want a specific number of beads that isn't divisible by 5, let me know so I can make you a custom listing.
