A full bolt of vintage Japanese silk, intended for a formal kimono but never sewn.
The patterning is different in each of six areas along the bolt where it would appear once sewn into a formal kimono, with blank areas in between.
This bolt is a soft peach color with scattered large, single fans outlined in red. Some fans are white (ready to be painted?) and others have a gold flecked design and are outlined with gold couching.
These bolts are patterned with the imagery placed to appear in the correct locations on the kimono once it is cut and sewn. For example, in one section the patterning only extends half way across the bolt - this is where the collar would be cut. There are markings at the edges indicating where to cut to get each panel needed for sleeves, collars, front and back panels, etc. but of course you can cut it anywhere and make anything you want! ____________________________________
