Item details

Jewelweed (Impatiens capensis) is an antidote to poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac. Spray it on the skin before or following contact with these toxic plants to prevent a rash, or apply to rashes to reduce itching and inflammation.

How it works: The constituent lawsone binds to the same molecular sites on the skin as urushiol, the oil on poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac. If applied soon after exposure, lawsone beats urushiol to the sites, in effect blocking it so you don’t get a rash (Duke).

Other uses: Nettle sting, fungal infections of the skin, e.g. athletes foot and ringworm (anti-fungal).

Contains: NC wildcrafted jewelweed leaf and flower in 80% water, 20% alcohol

Directions: Use preventatively, after exposure, or on poison ivy rash. Shake bottle, spray liberally on skin, and rub in. After exposure, if possible wash with soap, then spray. For EXTERNAL use only.

I harvested the jewelweed in this product from an abundant population growing in a wild, clean site. I took 2 to 3 plants from several stands of jewelweed, probably less than 1% of each stand.

Available in two or four ounce amber glass bottles; each bottle comes with a pump spray top.

The two ounce bottle is 4.5' tall and 1.5' in diameter.

This was gift for a friend, it was well packed arrived in good shape, however it took longer than I expected to receive it, so don't pay extra for the priority shipping. All in all , i was happy with order and will most likely, i will order again from his shop.
