Item details

I Opened A Book Poem by Julia Donaldson and a bookshelf of assorted books. I designed this with a white or cream 18 ct aida in mind. You can use any count fabric you like, but keep in mind, lower counts are easier to stitch, and higher counts result in a smaller finished product.

This beautiful poem would be ideal in a library or classroom, or even in a child's room to encourage reading. This is a real book lover's kind of pattern that would appeal to many.

The poem reads:

I opened a book and in I strode.
Now nobody can find me.
I've left my chair, my house, my road,
My town and my world behind me.
I'm wearing the cloak, I've slipped on the ring,
I've swallowed the magic potion.
I've fought with a dragon, dined with a king,
And dived in a bottomless ocean.
I opened a book and made some friends.
I've shared their tears and laughter.
And followed their roads with its bumps and bends
To the happily ever after.
I finished my book and out I came.
The cloak can no longer hide me.
My chair and my house are just the same,
But I have a book inside me.
-Julia Donaldson

***ALL PATTERNS BY COWBELL CROSS STITCH ARE DESIGNED BY A STITCHER FOR STITCHERS. UNLIKE OTHER CROSS STITCH SHOPS, I DO NOT SIMPLY CHOOSE RANDOM IMAGES FROM THE INTERNET AND CRANK OUT COMPUTER GENERATED PATTERNS. MY PATTERNS ARE ALL DESIGNED STITCH BY STITCH, COLORS ARE CAREFULLY CHOSEN TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF SKEINS YOU WILL NEED, AND EVEN THE SYMBOLS ARE CAREFULLY CHOSEN TO MAKE AN EASY TO READ PATTERN. ***
