Hexagonal Sewing Box PDF Tutorial - Tialys Cartonnage
The tutorial will be sent via email within 24 hours - usually sooner but please take into account the different time zones when you order as I am in France.
A PDF tutorial for making a completely fabric covered sewing box which you could also use as a trinket box, jewellery box, or memory keeper.
The finished box dimensions are 8" diameter x 4.25" deep (21cm x 11cm) and the sides drop open halfway so that you can easily access the inside. The box has six padded inner sides, three fitted with ribbon so that you can tuck little items behind and three with elasticated pockets. The lid and inner base are also padded for a luxurious feel.
You will need half a yard of fabric for the exterior of the box and a quarter of a yard for the interior, along with some wadding, card, glue, ribbon and elastic.
This pattern requires a certain competence with hand sewing and whilst one step of the construction is easier with access to a sewing machine, it is not strictly necessary.
You will receive a 24-page pattern in PDF format with tutorial-style instructions, 24 full color photographs, and templates. The instructions will be emailed to you within 24 hours.
Included with this pattern:
*Full list of required materials
*26 colour photographs illustrating each step
* Comprehensive Instructions with hints and tips
*PDF format allows you to print and reprint the instructions whenever you need.
*PDF allows you to zoom in on photos to see each step up close
I have tried to use both metric and imperial measurements but this can get confusing and lead to inaccuracy so, for the most part, measurements are in inches only.
I have been making these boxes for many years and they can become an addiction! Perfect for showcasing some favourite fabric - you can let the designer in you decide on the theme for your box and be as inventive as you like.
