Vintage Ephemera Canadian National Railway Camp Craft and Woodlore Brochure Pamphlet
A pair of documents from the Canadian National Railway--one brochure from about 1910 and a pamphlet from the late 1920s. This paper ephemera is in good condition and provides a historical view of the railway system, as well as survival information for camping.
The brochure is titled "America's Largest Railway System" and appears to have been advertising for the Canadian National Railway. It measures about 3.25 inches by about 5.75 inches when folded and unfolds to present 12 panels (six front and six back) and measures about 19 inches by 5.75 inches. The brochure mentions the "new" Chateau Laurier, which was finished in 1912.
The pamphlet is a complimentary piece titled "Camp Craft and Woodlore." It is not dated but I believe it is the 1929 edition. The booklet is 96 pages with a cardboard cover. it measures about 5.75 inches by about 3.25 inches. The book includes all kinds of information about camping and surviving in the outdoors, from how to identify trees to how fish shrinks after caught (?!). There are sections on first aid and what to do when lost in the woods. It also contains basic information about the railway.
Both of these items are in what I would all very good condition; no rips, missing pieces, or stains. The Camp Craft book has three pages with some underlining in red ink (see photo 5 for an example).
Please keep in mind that this item is vintage and we love it, in part, because of its age, history and patina. I feel that beauty is enhanced by the fact that they have been used and loved and they don't look brand new.
If you have any questions, please feel free to convo me and I will respond as soon as possible.
Thanks so much! Please check back--I'm just getting started and will be listing many more awesome and unusual items!
