Item details

Here we have an elegant, petite antique thimble that was made by Simons Bros.Co. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
It is made of sterling silver, embellished with gold on the broad border.
The Simons Bros. hallmark indicating that this piece is sterling silver can be found inside the dome of the thimble. (picture 4).
The initials J.F. are engraved on one panel of the border. On another panel is stamped '7' (the size of the thimble, see picture 3). Additionally, in tiny letters is 'Pat. May 24 '89"
This thimble is in excellent condition with no gross damage and only a few scratches from stray needles long ago. There is a nice patina on the metal.
What a fine present for a young person just getting interested in needlework!
