Item details

The butterfly is a hand embroidery kit in blackwork embroidery and makes a great introductory to the blackwork technique.

The kit is suitable for beginners in the blackwork embroidery technique and is designed to look like embroidery art.

If you have never done any counted embroidery before then I suggest working the embroidery on 14 count fabric which has easy to see threads and holes in the fabric. The finished embroidery size will be 7 inch by 7 inch (17 1/2 cm by 17 1/2 cm) on 14 count fabric.

If you have done some counted embroidery before such as cross-stitch then you may want to work the embroidery on the 28 count fabric instead. The finished embroidery size will be 3 1/2 inch by 3 1/2 inch (8 3/4 cm by 8 3/4 cm) on 28 count fabric and the patterns will appear denser on the 28 count.

The kit includes very detailed instructions on how to stitch the butterfly with step by step patterns to follow. A piece of counted fabric. One skein of black DMC embroidery cotton, one spool of Kreinik multi-coloured metallic cord, gilt very fine pearl purl, red and brown polyester sewing thread, two needles and a needle threader.

You can work the embroidery in a hoop or a stretcher bar frame.
You will require an 10 inch hoop or a 11 inch by 12 stretcher bar frame to work the embroidery in if you are working on 14 count fabric.
You will require an 6 inch hoop or a 8 inch stretcher bar frame to work the embroidery in if you are working on 32 count fabric.

Please see the other listings to purchase the stretcher bar frame.

If you have any questions as you are working the embroidery you can email me at any time.

Was as described. Arrived within two weeks, which is excellent for international postage. Instructions easy to follow. The only bug was that 28count fabric came, not the 14count I had ordered.Luckily I can see the threads, but only in daylight!
