Carrickmacross Lace is an Irish form of whitework. Very dainty white work pieces are created by layering honeycomb net and cotton organdie and working surface embroidery stitches capturing the two layers together and then cutting away sections of the cotton organdie fabric.
The Carrickmacross Lace sampler kit teaches all aspects of the Carrickmarcoss lace technique by creating small and pretty, yet manageable pieces which can be displayed between glass or on a fabric background.
The Carrickmacross medallions range from 5/8 of an inch to 1 1/2 inches wide.
The kit includes detailed instructions on how to stitch the Carrickmacross lace stitches with by step patterns to follow. A piece of cotton organdie fabric and honeycombe net 8 inch by 10 inch. White cord and white couching thread. Needles and a needle threader.
The Carrickmacross lace medallions are worked in the hand so no frame is required for this technique.
For cutting away layers of the cotton organdie fabric I suggest a pair of curved blade scissors which can be purchased separately.
