This fabric is 36 inches wide and is sold by the yard. This chocolate ikat pattern is very striking. The design is dyed into the thread before the weaver sets up the loom. It is an amazing process. Then, the designs have special meanings to the weaver and the village where it is woven. The dying of the thread and the weaving of the cloth is a tradition that has been handed down through the generations in Mayan villages. It is truly an art form.
This fabric would be nice for any home decor project. It could also make a nice light-weight jacket or a bag. It is 100% cotton.

All the fabrics on this site are 100% cotton hand-dyed and hand-woven in Guatemala. The regular fabric is 36 inches wide. The fabric is not cut until you buy it. When you order multiple yards, you'll receive your fabric in a continuous piece.
Since these fabrics are hand woven there might be slight imperfections. These are characteristics that make the fabric stand out from machine made fabrics.
The corte pieces are different widths. The width of each one is in the description.
Fabrics should be prewashed before sewing with them. Edges of the fabric should be zigzagged to prevent fraying. Fabrics should be washed with the fixative, Retayne, to fix the color. Please follow the instructions on the bottle of Retayne. Remove fabric from the machine right after the final spin cycle. Dry in the dryer until damp dry using the coolest temperature. Fabric should then be hung up to finish drying.
Retayne can be ordered on-line from any number of sites such as Joanne’s or Amazon.
