The Buzz Pants were designed as a fun gift for a friend’s baby. I love the loose-fitting style on my son, and he can easily move and play in these pants. The pants have two front pockets, to add practicality for the older toddlers, and to emphasise the moon and rocket nosecone. The moon and rocket are easily recognisable motifs when worn, and make these pants fun to construct!
All children’s patterns are a great way to use up fabric scraps- any cotton woven fabric is appropriate for this pattern. Poplin, broadcloth, drill and patchwork fabric are all great choices. I like appearance of using plain fabrics for the rocket and moon, and using “space” themed fabric for the remainder of the pants. Metallic fabric and thread will create a very unique pair of pants for the child who is special to you.
These pants can be fully-lined (pattern for lining included)- I use flannelette for the cool weather, but any light cotton fabric will do to cover the internal seams and pockets if warmth is not a priority.
Advanced beginner (due to multiple seams requiring top-stitching, 2 pockets).
