Malmesbury Lace by Joan Blanchard. Hard cover. Malmesbury is a town in northern England where lace making has been taught since 1645, according to the author. The patterns she uncovers from this area, begin with the most simple braids/tape laces and end with the six sided chain and chevron motif. In lace making, patterns develop that are so distinct to certain areas that when a experienced lace maker looks at it, she can identify the area it came from. The author did her research to contain patterns from this area. There are no marks or notations in this book other than an inscription on the first page.
