Item details

Vintage 1950s Butterick 8586 sewing pattern and instructions for Women's / Misses' Slim Chemise or Sheath Dress JR. MISSES' & MISSES' CHEMISE DRESS: Combining fashion's most flattering new style details, the bloused chemise glides from the shoulder to hem with just a slight pause below the waistline. (A) Accented by a ribbon bow. (B) Below-the-waist band effects a belt by adding a buckle.

Pattern is new, unused / uncut in factory-folded (FF) condition. The envelope has aged as seen in the photos with some discoloration on the front and back and a few small tears and holes along the edges, but the instructions are 100% intact as are the pattern pieces.

This design is marked for a Misses' Size 12 which is noted as a Bust of 32", Waist 25", and 34" Hip though I would not be concerned with the sizing if the style and shape are right for your project. There are an endless number of websites and blogs offering step-by-step instructions on how to accurately resize vintage sewing patterns for the perfect fit.

Although the exact date of this pattern is unknown, the evolution of Butterick's method of sizing their patterns places it between 1956 and 1966.
