Rare vintage pattern for easy to make dress - Vogue 7687 - Bust 32 - from the 1950s
Rare vintage pattern for easy to make dress - Vogue 7687 - from the 1950s
This beautiful dress pattern is comprised of only four (4) pattern pieces, including the belt piece, so it can be made up quickly. From a pattern collector's perspective, this pattern is rare and represents the New Look (style based upon Christian Dior's first fashion collection for spring/summer 1947 in Paris) fashion evolution of the early 1950s perfectly.
From the pattern envelope: “One Piece Dress - Easy to Make
The straight front skirt joins the bodice at waist-line in front. The back section of skirt is cut in one with the bodice back. Gathers at back waist-line held by the belt. Collarless round neck-line. Kimono cap sleeves."
Suggested fabric types: satin, tie silk, tissue faille, surah, shantung, linen, voile, chiffon, cotton broadcloth, muslin, cotton shirting, chambray, dimity, lawn, wool jersey, sheer wool, challis, and lightweight woolen.
This is a rare and highly collectible pattern from 1952. Very special!
If this is not your size, but you are interested in customizing the fit of this design, please see Threads magazine's helpful article describing the process in detail: http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/4424/quick-reference-for-cut-and-spread-pattern-grading (by Terry Horlamus, from Threads #101, pp. 66-70).
Condition: Excellent for its age. Mild wear, tear and yellowing, commensurate with pattern age. Color graphics look good. To my eyes, this perforated pattern appears to be unused and factory folded. Please see all photos.
This item is an original vintage sewing pattern. I am not an expert pattern dater. This vintage sewing pattern does not include a finished garment, notions, fabric or a fabric label.
