Vintage sewing pattern for 1950s dress with special angular details - Advance 6010
Check out this flattering dress with adorable V-shaped pockets! The pocket angles are echoed in the dress' cuffs and collar, making the design perfect from a high fashion designer's perspective. Options include an affixed (view 2 shown in solid red) or detachable (view 1 shown in white and plaid) collar, short or 3/4 sleeves, and a fabric belt that could be made in the main fabric or a contrast fabric. Additionally, the detachable collar offers an opportunity for contrast fabric, while the pattern itself, in contrast to many other designs, specifically accommodates lightweight plaid fabric. With so many options, this pattern from the early 1950s could be used multiple times to expand your wardrobe.
From the pattern envelope: "View 1, Short-sleeve Dress with Detachable Contrast Collar - Self or Purchased Belt; View 2, Long or Cuffed Three-quarter Sleeve Dress - Purchased Belt"
size 12 bust 30 hip 33 If this is not your size, but you are interested in customizing the fit of this design, please see Threads magazine's helpful article describing the process in detail: http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/4424/quick-reference-for-cut-and-spread-pattern-grading (by Terry Horlamus, from Threads #101, pp. 66-70).
There are 11 total pattern pieces.
Condition: Excellent. Yellowing commensurate with pattern age. To my eye, the pattern tissue appears factory folded and unused. Tissue is perforated, as was the common practice at the time, and the instructions define clearly how to interpret the perforations. Color graphics on envelope remain sharp. Please see all photos.
