Item details

A big huggable, loveable whale shark named Wilbur - who can resist?!

This listing is for a PDF digital download sewing pattern with full instructions for you to make your own plush Whale Shark using fleece and/or upcycled felted sweaters (felting instructions included). Please see below for a full materials list.

There are eight pages of detailed instructions including 13 photos of the making process. There are also 6 pages of full sized pattern pieces.
The finished Whale Shark will be around 22 inches (56cm) long from nose to the tip of his (or her!) tail!

♥ This listing is the downloadable sewing pattern only - no hard copy will be sent and no materials are included in the price.
♥ Once purchased, the pattern will be available to download immediately through etsy.

Materials required:
For an entirely wool whale shark: Two adult sized wool-rich jumpers jumpers or cardigans, one mid blue, the other white or cream. The fabric should be at least 80% wool and the care label should state hand-washing or dry clean in order for them to felt easily. A ribbed hem is a nice feature to provide mouth texture but this is not essential. The two jumpers should be of similar weights/thickness.
For a mixed fabric whale shark (as in the whale pictured – blue fabric is a felted jumper, white is fleece): 1 adult sized wool-rich jumper and 55 x 30cm fleece if fleece is used on the underside or 110 x 55cm if the upper and fins will be fleece.
For an entirely fleece whale shark: Two colours of fleece will be required. 55 x 30cm for the underside in cream or white and 110 x 55 cm for the upper and fins.

1 pair of 12mm black safety/amigurumi eyes (alternatively buttons could be used or the eyes could be embroidered on)

Stuffing – either polyfill or wool – the inside of old polyester pillows can make good stuffing once washed and fluffed up by hand.

Thread to match or contrast with the fabrics chosen.

Hand-sewing needle

Sewing machine (non-essential as Wilbur may be sewn entirely by hand)

Fabric chalk/marker
