Empty child's cardboard handkerchief box, circa 1940's, depicting a child wearing an American Indian costume and shooting a toy bow and arrow. The box is 6 inches square, and does not contain any hankies. The illustration of the child is particularly charming and detailed, especially for a vintage product box.
The box shows some soiling and wear, particularly on the lower right-hand corner, where some of the paper is eroded away. The interior of the box has a gift inscription written in pencil. There's a small tag on the edge of the box that indicates it held 1/4 dozen child's initial handkerchiefs.
Very sweet paper ephemera, it would be fun as decor or you could use it to store a few vintage hankies.
I use delivery confirmation via USPS or FedEx on all domestic orders. Shipping costs vary, and I will work with you to determine what works the best, based upon your budget and how soon you want to receive the item.
Items shipped by Priority Mail or FedEx will be insured through the carriers. If an item is sent via First Class Mail or Parcel Post, I insure items using the U-Ship insurance that is provided by Etsy.
Larger, heavier items are typically shipped via FedEx.
Jewelry buyers: I will ship internationally IF your country does not have a customs restriction.
For your convenience, in addition to PayPal, I am now accepting credit cards directly through Etsy.
I will reserve items for no more than 48 hours unless you've made other arrangements with me. If you do not purchase the item within 48 hours, or within the agreed-upon amount of time, I will remove the reserve.
Please convo me if you'd like to put something on layaway and we can work out a payment schedule. If you default on a layaway, I will retain 15% of the item cost as a restocking fee.
Returns & exchanges
My store is a vintage shop and I do rather exhaustive descriptions of the condition of each item, because when a purchase is done online, you can't pick up an item and look it over thoroughly. Please look at the descriptions to know what you're getting -- I know they are lengthy, but that's done for your benefit.
Many of my books are over 50 years old, and it goes without saying that there are variances in vintage printing standards from today's digital world. If you want something that is of crisp, bright, digitally-enhanced quality, you are probably better served locating a contemporary reprinting.
If there is an issue regarding damage or a gross misrepresentation of condition, please convo me within 72 hours of receiving the item so we can discuss options. In these instances, I ask that you send me photos of the item and the shipping material as you received it. If a return is agreed upon, I require that it be shipped no later than 72 hours after we've agreed to the return.
