Create beaded acorn earrings using peyote stitch. Just in time for the change of seasons. Topped with their jaunty, textured caps, I’ve loved acorns for as long as I can remember. I collected acorns every autumn, promising myself I’d ‘do something special’ with them.
Playing with beads leftover from another project, last fall, I noticed that the 12mm pearls were almost the exact size of some acorns sitting on my desk. I love how the texture of the seed beads echoes that of the acorns’ caps. I chose to work with dark, rich chocolaty browns.
This listing is for a PDF tutorial with detailed, full-color photographs and illustrations. Includes instructions on circular peyote stitch and tips on organically shaping the bead caps using semi-freeform stitching.
You’ll need a total of 2-3 grams of seed beads, so this is a great way to use up leftover beads from other projects.
The acorns are lovely as earrings, but could also be made as charms for a bracelet or as a pendant.
