Rose of Sharon is a deciduous flowering shrub and is botanically known as Hibiscus syriacus. It is a beautiful shrub that does not take much care and they will do well in average soils. Rose of Sharon blooms in late summer and into the fall. They bloom profusely making this shrub one of the most attractive of late summer flowering plants.

Plant seeds in moist, rich soil about one inch deep, water thoroughly. Keep the soil moist but not soggy. In a few weeks, the seeds will germinate. Rose of Sharon is easy to grow from seed for anyone who is patient and curious about plant propagation. Once established, this ornamental shrub grows two to three feet per year and needs very little maintenance.
