Jewels the Mermaid, Verne the Sea Turtle, Oyster, Starfish, and Coral!
Simple pattern pieces and assembly allow you to sew the entire quintet or just one friend. Experiment with a variety of materials, or use your favorite go-to fabrics from your stash.
•Jewels the Mermaid has fun textures including rick rack on her tail and wild faux fur hair. Her arms are button jointed at the shoulder, allowing her to swim a fabulous back stroke.
•Verne the Sea Turtle has easy construction and his shell is a great canvas for creating your own stitching patterns.
•Oyster, perfect for contrasting textures, has a special pearl inside.
•With simple darts, Starfish has a sculpted shape and soft plush underside.
•Coral completes the set, making a back drop for the scene.
The Underwater Quintet is just right for dramatic play, storytelling and all around fun! This pattern includes complete instructions, photo figures, and full size templates.
This pattern is suitable for confident beginners.
Finished Sizes: Jewels the Mermaid is 24" tall. Verne the Sea Turtle is 20" long. Oyster is 7" wide. Starfish is 7" diameter. Coral is 13" high.

Materials: Jewels the Mermaid: •1/2 yard fabric or one fat quarter for the clothes (tail and top) •1/4 yard fabric or one fat quarter for the skin •12 pieces of rick rack in a variety of widths and different blues cut to 14" lengths •embroidery floss for face and tail •8" square of thin batting for tail •strong thread for attaching the arms •long needle for attaching the arms •two 3/8" 2-hole buttons for the arms •8" square of faux fur •scrap of green felt •Pattern pages 1, 2, 3
Verne the Sea Turtle: •12" square OR two 9" squares of 3mm felt for legs (Note: 3mm felt can be ordered from weircrafts.com. You can also use standard 1mm felt.) •3/8 yard of cotton or cotton flannel for body •1/4 yard of cotton or cotton flannel for outer shell •1/4 yard of cotton for shell lining •18" square of batting •two yards of green rick rack for the shell •embroidery floss for face and decorative stitching on shell •Pattern pages 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
Oyster: •1/8 yard or one fat quarter of white textured cotton or linen fabric for the outer shell •1/8 yard or one fat quarter of satin or shiny fabric for the lining •Scraps of felt or wool for the shell layers •embroidery floss or metallic thread for topstitching the layers on the shells •One pearl button or bead in any size •Pattern pages 11, 12
Starfish: •8" x 8" square of fleece, plush, or flannel fabric for the starfish underside •9" x 9" square of cotton or linen for the starfish top •embroidery floss for decorative stitching •Pattern pages 13, 14
