This fly selection is tied by Kevin Feenstra and includes the following patterns (14 flies total):
4 Simple Olive/Tan Crayfish--This fly is deadly for smallmouth, trout, and carp. Typically this fly is fished very slowly under a small bobber or stripped very, very slowly.
4 Black and Red Crayfish--Very simple, very effective pattern for smallmouth bass. It is tied on a bendable hook; if you use 8lb. tippet and fish it through the brush, you can often get the fly back from several snags. Hopefully, you catch a big smallmouth in the process!
4 Black and Blue Crayfish--Same as black and red
2 Peach Crabbler--An attractor crayfish pattern designed to be twitched and stripped erratically.
These flies work well anywhere smallmouth are present but especially well throughout West Michigan.
