These gloves were originally created with hand-spun yarn that contained Southdown wool and Alpaca. That yarn measured out to a commercially sized DK/sport weight yarn.
I've had a number of fellow knitters test it out and the results with those weights of yarn seem to be the most successful. The gloves themselves have some negative ease so the pattern is fairly forgiving.
Another 'special' attribute of this design is that each glove is a mirror-image of it's partner. The cables each 'roll' toward the thumb. These are also true gloves... they actually have partial fingers. Unlike so many fingerless glove patterns that are actually mittens.
