Rare vintage Vogue pattern for evening gown or dress with special sleeves - Junior Vogue 3303 - Bust 31.5 - from the 1940s
Rare vintage Vogue sewing pattern for evening gown or dress with special sleeves - from the 1940s - Junior Vogue 3303
This glamorous evening gown would be appropriate for special occasions such as the Met Ball, a charity gala, and all black tie holiday events. Historically, the style represents the vibrant couture period of Dior's New Look. The pattern is rare and the unique sleeves shown on the green version depicted on the envelope make the pattern more valuable. The design is elegant, timeless and sure to please even the most discerning pattern collector.
From the pattern envelope: "One-Piece Dress 'Easy-To-Make'. Four-piece circular floor length skirt joins bodice at waist-line. Low square neck-line. Cap sleeves with cuffs."
Suggested fabrics: taffeta, faille, shantung, velveteen, pique, gingham, embroidered cottons, linen and cotton taffeta.
If this is not your size, but you are interested in customizing the fit of this design, please see Threads magazine's helpful article describing the process in detail: http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/4424/quick-reference-for-cut-and-spread-pattern-grading (by Terry Horlamus, from Threads #101, pp. 66-70).
Very good. The envelope graphics are sharp. There is some yellowing, wear and tear as expected due to age. In particular there are small tears at the top left and top right of the envelope. The name "Janet" is handwritten in pencil on the envelope. The pattern pieces are pre-cut and marked via hole punches in the pattern tissue, as was the common practice back then. (The instructions tell you how to interpret the hole punches.) Please see all photos.
This item is an original vintage sewing pattern believed to be from 1949. This vintage sewing pattern does not include a finished garment, notions, fabric or a fabric label. I am not an expert pattern dater.
