Got a girl that loves to cheer? Her doll needs to get her cheer on, too! Have you seen those elaborate cheer costumes and felt intimdated? How about an ezy method to make a great cheer look without all the hassle? No tricky pleats, inlays or elasticized legs. The Janie Carroll Designs Cheer 'n Play Ezy pattern for 18" dolls such will have YOU cheering, too! Don't really need cheer? Pattern makes a great dress for drill team, tennis or playtime. Dress it up or down, as you wish.
Pattern includes a sleeveless dress in 2 different lengths; mid-thigh modern cheer length and a just-above-the-knee dress length. Choose from a round neckline, or an Ezy 'V' neck style. Dress has options for side vents at the hemline and lots of tips for embellishments, including source recommendations for fabrics, iron-on appliques and embroidery designs you can purchase and stitch yourself.
You also get a one-piece pattern for the necessary 'spanky' sport shorts. These are ezy to stitch, too and require no elastic in the leg openings. She can jump and stretch all she likes.
Cheer dresses and spanky shorts call for double knit fabrics with at least 20% stretch. These include polyester ponte knit, just like the big girls use. All views can be made from just 1/3 yard.
Want more options? You can make the dress in a woven fabric, using my Ezy lining method. It's included, of course! (final pic of the green dress embroidered 'Hocus Pocus' is a woven, in the dress length) (sorry, the spanky shorts do require an appropriate knit). Need design ideas? There's a photo gallery to get you inspired!
She's not ready to cheer just yet, she'll need pom-poms and a great cheer bow, too. How about Bonus Worksheets to make both? You'll learn ezy shortcuts to make doll size poms out of a child size pom pom you can purchase at a dollar store. A few simple tools and she'll be riling up the crowd with authentic poms.
Keep her hair tidy with a cute cheer hairbow. Think bows are tricky? My tutorial will show you an ezy way to make a great bow with even, balanced loops. No fancy bow-maker is required!
