This listing is for the download of a PDF sewing pattern to make a woman's western stretch show shirt in Misses Sizes 6-24 (see sizing chart). It is NOT for a physical paper pattern. The shirt requires stretchy fabric and has a front zipper and two collar options. Collar B has longer and narrower peaks than Collar A. The shirt can be worn tucked in or outside of the pants. This basic shirt is ready for your embellishments!
The photos are of shirts made by SuitAbility customers using a previous version of this pattern (see below) and are not for sale. Credits: white/floral shirt by Pegg Johnson, black/blue sparkly shirt by Janice, and blue geometric print/black shirt by Carly Ray.
The PDF file includes instructions illustrated with diagrams and the shirt pattern pieces. The sizes are nested. Download the file using Adobe Reader and print out the pages using 8 1/2" by 11" or A4 paper.
DO NOT FOLLOW READY-TO-WEAR SIZING! See the measurement charts above to choose a size.
This pattern requires a stretch knit with at least 20% crosswise stretch (4” stretches to 5"). When made from a fabric with the minimum required crosswise stretch of 20%, the shirt will be fairly close-fitting but not skintight. When made from fabrics with more stretch, especially those containing lycra, the fit will be looser.
Use fusible interfacing for the collar and front facing- stiffer interfacings will give a crisper look to the collar. Lighter weight interfacings can be used for the front facing and along the zippered opening. Use a lightweight one-way separating zipper.
Fabric yardages are given above.
Required zipper length (if you can’t find the exact length, get the next largest)- Size 6: 20”, Sizes 8-22: 22”, Size 24: 24”
Also needed: 1 YD of 22” wide interfacing, thread.
PLEASE NOTE: This PDF pattern is the same basic shirt as in the SuitAbility paper version Pattern 3409, View A, but without the cuffs. This PDF version also includes the 3409 collar from Views C/D.
