This walnut display shelf was made from live edge lumber. Each shelf was inspired by the grains and color of individual pieces of walnut.
The walnut shelf sides were selected for the contrast between the sap wood, the black walnut heartwood and the natural bark. The shelves as well are fronted with natural bark in combination with the cambium live edge of the trunk.
The shelves are individually fitted to match the subtle curve of the cabinet sides as well as the wood grain color of the verticals.
All of the joinery uses glued dadoes and rabbets carefully hand fitted without the use of screws or nails.
This unit is 12" X 5 1/2" X 36" with six shelves. We like shelf displays that are not evenly spaced and also have a bottom shelf that extends further out.
When we saw this particular board in the lumber racks we were really excited by the bark on the live edge. By re-sawing this particular section of the tree, it allowed a book matched pair of sides.
This shelf will showcase your treasured articles in any home setting including contemporary modern decor.
While the unusual wood is captivating, it still allows the beauty of the contents to come forward!
